Lessons from the Dog Park
Here’s a list of life lessons I have learned from the dog park.
- Never wear nice clothing to the dog park. Your pup will inevitably find the sole lonely mud patch at the far end of the park and promptly return to high-five your clean pants.
- Always bring extra bags.
- If you bring treats – bring them for EVERYONE – the noses always know!
- Little dogs jump the highest.
- Labs like to swim – regardless of where – pool, ocean, mud puddle – all good! Then they like to tell you about it!
- Curly ponytails and pompoms on winter hats are very attractive new toys.
- Keep your knees soft – when exuberent roughhousing is going on, no one is really paying attention to where you are standing.
Here is a list of lessons I think the DOGS have learned from dog park.
- Eating dirt and worms is fun and nutritious
- Golden retrievers are just as much fun to heard as sheep and cattle
- Everyone else’s water tastes better
- Greet all new dogs by jumping in their car as soon as they arrive – all dogs must participate
- The grass is always greener when it comes to dog toys
- Run like someone left the gate open
